Online card sorting tools are fascinating because you can send a link out to 200 participants and simply look at results, or you can use a screen-sharing program to conduct card-sorting sessions 1-on-1 with participants. And for the win, you can go crazy and do BOTH. Either way, you’ll need a tool, and these are the ones we’re aware of:
Web Sort – the first online card sorting tool and still going strong. $79 per study with discounts for more volume.
OptimalSort – from the guys at OptimalWorkshop who make a few pretty sweet remote UX tools.$109 per month with unlimited studies during that time. Also discounts for more tools or volume.
Okay so xSort is not really a remote card-sorting tool, BUT it looks really slick and we absolutely love Survs, the other product from the elegant product shop Enough Pepper. XSort is a free card-sorting applicationfor Mac OS X aimed at user experience professionals and social scientists. Oh and it’s FREE. You could always do some reverse screen-sharing with Acrobat Connect to make it remote.
